Visit reputable vw classified sites online. The samba.com is such a place. take a look around and compare prices. if you find a vehicle you like read the ad carefully and form as many questions as you can to email the seller.
Check to see if the seller has sold vws before. It is not a requirement, but maybe you can talk to others who have dealt with him/her
Make an appointment and make it when you have time to give the vehicle a once over. You could also take it to a mechanic before purchasing.
